OLCDC convenes Nile Gardens Third Task Force and Fifth Residents' Meetings, March 14

On Wednesday, March 14th, 2012, the OLCDC held the 3rd meeting of the Task Force established under OLCDC's recently awarded Choice Neighborhood Initiative Challenge Grant to help develop the Transformation Plan for Nile Gardens followed by the 5th Residents' Meeting, where participants learned more about the Choice Neighborhood Program and discussed the Transformation Plan.

In the News: OLCDC Hosts Magnolia North Artist Orientation, March 2

On March 2, 2012, OLCDC and Miami-Dade County Art in Public Places* hosted an artist orientation meeting to offer invited artists a comprehensive overview of the future vision of the Magnolia North neighborhood.  The orientation included a guided site tour; lunch with residents, community leaders and students; and a question and answer session on the vision for public art, proposal requirements, project schedules, etc.

As part of the orientation, the OLCDC hosted a reception in honor of the artists, which provided an excellent opportunity for artists, OLCDC staff, and community leaders to speak one-on-one!

OLCDC hosts fourth Nile Gardens Residents' Meeting, March 1

On Thursday, March 1st, 2012, OLCDC invited residents to come learn more about the Choice Neighborhood Program and discuss ways they can help the OLCDC develop the plan to transform The Gardens Apartments and the greater Nile Gardens community.

OLCDC hosts second Nile Gardens Task Force Meeting, February 21

Through its recently awarded Choice Neighborhood Initiative Challenge Grant, the OLCDC has embarked upon an intensive and comprehensive planning process in collaboration with community stakeholders and residents to develop the Transformation Plan for Nile Gardens.  The process continued at the second Task Force meeting on Tuesday, February 21. OLCDC and partners sponsor BBQ at the Gardens, February 11

On Saturday, February 11, 2012, OLCDC and Creative Choice sponsored a barbeque at the Gardens Apartments, where guests enjoyed great food, completed Choice Neighborhood Program resident surveys, won prizes, and learned more about the plan to transform The Gardens Apartments and the greater Nile Gardens community.

On Thursday, February 9, 2012, OLCDC hosted a meeting at the Gardens Apartments, where residents completed surveys, won prizes, learned more about the Choice Neighborhood Program, and discussed ways to help OLCDC develop a plan to transform The Gardens Apartments and the greater Nile Gardens community.

OLCDC breaks ground at Solabella, February 8

On Wednesday, February 8, 2012, the OLCDC broke ground at Solabella, luxury rental townhomes at 17355 NW 7th Avenue, Miami Gardens, Florida.



OLCDC hosts first Nile Gardens Task Force Meeting, February 7

Through its recently awarded Choice Neighborhood Initiative Challenge Grant, the OLCDC is embarking upon an intensive and comprehensive planning process in collaboration with community stakeholders and residents to develop the Transformation Plan for Nile Gardens.

OLCDC has assembled a Task Force to help develop potential programs and initiatives in Housing, People-Education, Economic-Industrial, and Neighborhoods.  On Tuesday, February 7, OLCDC hosted a kick-off Task Force meeting to introduce key planning participants and consultants and describe in greater detail the proposed planning process.

OLCDC breaks ground at Villa Capri, February 2

 


On Thursday, February 2, 2012, OLCDC and partners broke ground at Villa Capri, a renovated affordable rental redevelopment offering 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom garden-style residences with many environmentally-friendly features.

Villa Capri is located at 14500 SW 280th Street, in Homestead.
