On November 13th, OLCDC partnered with BankUnited to host a Financial Literacy workshop at Holy Temple Human Services Church for people age 55+, focusing on fraud and other issues facing this population.

OLCDC exposes youth to contemporary ballet at YoungArts

On Saturday, November 7, OLCDC took 85 Opa-locka students and parents from Spiritz Performing Arts & North Dade Middle School to see a dance performance by Complexions Contemporary Ballet as part of the Outside the Box Series sponsored by the Young Arts Foundation. Now in its second year, the Series engages the public, inspires artists, and serves as a catalyst for neighborhood transformation.

OLCDC receives $50,000 Grant from Wells Fargo

OLCDC received a $50,000 grant from Wells Fargo to support the Veteran's Way project in the Magnolia North Community. The project will begin with the demolition of the existing property located at 14805 Johnson St. in Opa-locka.

OLCDC hosts "Beautiful Decay" exhibit @ The ARC

OLCDC's exhibition "Beautiful Decay" was an architectural exploration into the viability of current methods of habitation. Both real and speculative, the selected projects explored sceneries and scenarios that tackle the issues facing our ever-changing landscape. Featuring 10 architects and designers from around the country, the exhibition was curated by Germane Barnes, OLCDC Designer-in-Residence and Lecturer at the University of Miami School of Architecture.

OLCDC cohosts WaveMaker Grants Info Session

WaveMaker Grants Cycle 2 will provide a limited number of cash awards totaling $100,000 to visual artists, curators, creative/arts writers, cultural organizers, collectives, collaboratives, partnerships, and artist-run spaces currently residing in Miami-Dade County.

On October 14th @ The ARC, a free WaveMaker Grants Info Session provided general information about the program, eligibility, award categories, and funding priorities.
