About The Event
The Opa-Locka Community Development Center and O, Miami present the Opa-Locka Light District, a project to illuminate unlit sidewalks during the month of April.
On March 3rd, we're hosting a community workshop to collect the poems that will be projected onto the street.
Want to see your poem in lights? Participation in the workshop is free and open to the public with RSVP.
"Six Ways of Looking," led by poet and instructor Caroline Cabrera, is a workshop designed to create short but surprising poems, revealing hidden characteristics between two unlike things. Selected contributions to the workshop will be cast as projections onto the pathways near Historic Opa-Locka City Hall as part of O, Miami's April engagement with the city.
This workshop is part of the Poetry Coalition's “What Is It, Then, Between Us?: Poetry & Democracy,” a nationwide suite of programming in the month of March.
