TechHire Center Launched in the City of Opa Locka

MIAMI – March 8, 2018 – CareerSource South Florida (CSSF) in partnership with the Opa-Locka Community Development Corporation (OLCDC) will open a TechHire Center. CSSF awarded $114,100 to the OLCDC for purchasing the IT equipment for the TechHire Center. The TechHire Center, which is planned to open in the fall of 2018, will make accelerated IT training accessible to Opa-Locka residents for the first time, as well as empower area youth to use technology for education and training purposes.


The Center will occupy approximately 3,000 square feet, accommodating approximately 35 individuals at a time. It is expected to serve 200 youth and adults over the next year with a vision to grow and serve more than 300 each year. The TechHire Center will feature –

  • Classroom style computer tables

  • Computers equipped with Microsoft Office Suite, anti-virus software

  • Smartboards, and

  • Internet access, including Wi-Fi services

“Empowering the residents of Opa-locka with essential information technology skills not only makes the residents competitive for the global market workplace but improves the economic vitality of the community,” said CareerSource South Florida Executive Director, Rick Beasley. “We are thrilled to partner with the Opa-locka Community Development Corporation to tackle the community’s digital literacy gap.”
